Noise considered early in design

One of the most significant hazards in LNG facilities is noise.

Client: LNG producer, design stage of new platform

Tough Problem: One of the most significant hazards in LNG facilities is noise. Modern occupational health standards and the significant direct and indirect costs of retrofitting and redesign make noise management a significant design concern.

Practical Solution: SVT's significant industrial and environmental acoustics expertise was employed to develop a comprehensive Noise Management Plan to define how noise would be managed across all project phases.A key element of the Plan provided cost benefit analysis which took into consideration "As Low As Reasonably Practicable" (ALARP) factors including: safety, noise reduction; operability; ease and cost of maintenance; and direct costs.

Bottom Line: Client believes the "new evaluation approach to noise control... is leading practice".
